Construction Update - June 4th, 2025

CHANGES IN TRAFFIC AS PAVING PROGRESS CONTINUES
Picture
In the last two weeks, all mainline curb, road base work, and lower binder lift was completed from IL 83 to Checker Road in preparation for the final phase of asphalt paving. The lower binder lift is the first layer of binder asphalt that provides structure to the pavement.

This week, the contractor will continue placing the lower binder lift from Checker Road to Lake Cook Road. Installation of underground foundations for new traffic signals and street lighting will also begin in the coming weeks.

  • Traffic Shift on Checker Road: East bound traffic on Checker Road will be shifted to the newly paved north lane of Arlington Heights Road. This will allow reconstruction of the south lane to begin.
  • Fremont Street Reopening: Fremont Street will reopen once paving is complete. When reopened, there will only be southbound access to Arlington Heights Road from Fremont Street. This will be a permanent traffic configuration.

Please use caution when traveling through the area to support a safe work environment!
